AURORA, ONTARIO -- Magna International Inc. will invest $81.75 million to build two new Michigan plastics facilities, with injection molding, painting and assembly.
The auto supplier's Cosma International unit is also spending $162 million for a die casting operation in Battle Creek, Mich., the Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced Jan. 23.
Final details have not been determined yet for the Magna Exteriors and Interiors operations, company officials said. Those decisions include the final site for a molding and painting site in the Lansing, Mich., suburb of Delta Township. The Magna site will operate under the company's Norplas Industries Inc. manufacturing division.
Aurora, Ontario-based Magna will also build a light assembly and sequencing facility in the Detroit suburb of Brownstown Township to produce front-end modules. Front-end modules can include a variety of plastics, including bumper fascia and lighting.
Both Delta Township and Brownstown Township are offering property tax abatements to help finance the projects.
