ROCKFORD, ILL. -- Industrial Molds Group is expanding to the Southwest to reach customers both in the United States and Mexico.
The Rockford, Ill.-based company will officially open an injection molding plant under the name Pyramid Plastics San Antonio in the Texas town in late February.
Pyramid Plastics is a sister company of Industrial Molds. The new site covers 21,000 square feet with the potential to expand to 30,000 square feet as business grows in the region. It launches production with five injection molding machines ranging from 500 to 800 tons in capacity and nine employees working two shifts. The company provides parts to automotive suppliers.
Pyramid Plastics San Antonio will also add two-shot and smaller tonnage presses during the next year to accommodate a variety of part sizes, the company said in a Jan. 31 press release.
"This opportunity came to us because we have grown the company into a full-service supplier for mold design and engineering, molding process development and production molding," said Group Vice President Tim Peterson.
