Dow Plastics Additives has introduced a foam cell promoter for free-foam PVC sheet.
The Philadelphia, Pa., subsidiary of Dow Chemical Co. says the acrylic additive provides higher expansion in combination with reduced density.
“By using Surecel T-60, extruders producing cellular vinyl sheet can benefit from combined lower cost foam sheet, a wider processing window and excellent expansion for thicker sheet applications,” states Rob Martin, Americas marketing manager for Dow Plastics Additives.
Surecel T-60 is aimed at trim boards and mill stock for the construction industry. The wide processing window leads to less waste and a more manageable melt over various processing conditions like die gap, pull rates and extrusion rates.
Dow uses reactive polymer technology so that Surecel T-60 reacts lightly with the PVC matrix to provide benefits beyond conventional processing aids.
