CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. -- Boston Matthews Inc., which makes extruders and downstream equipment, and recycling machinery sister firm Munchy Inc. have moved from its longtime home in New Jersey to Coral Springs, in a move an executive said will help expand business.
"It's bigger and a lot more suitable for what we want to do in the U.S." said Richard Brookes, marketing manager of the Worcester, England-based company.
Boston Matthews has sold more than 10,000 machines in the United States, after operating a manufacturing and customer support facility in Norwood, N.J., for more than 25 years. Brookes said the new U.S. operation in Coral Springs has a Munchy trial machine and houses spare parts and technical support for both units.
The new location will give easier access to customers in Latin America, Brookes said, adding that the Florida operation has Spanish-speaking capability.
Boston Matthews has developed custom turnkey lines for medical, automotive, cosmetic tubes (sleeves), nylon rod and plate, cross-linked polyethylene pipe for plumbing and heating, zipper profiles for packaging, silicon chip transportation and fiber-optic ducting.
Brookes said the company plans to expand the U.S. operation and add employees.
"Initially we've made the move to get up and running to make sure there's no break in the continuity of support," he said. "As we put more machinery through Florida, we intend to increase the personnel that we have there. It's definitely an expansion and an investment move."
