CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. — Sheet extruder Crawford Industries LLC is launching a $5.2 million 45,000 square-foot expansion at its headquarters and plant in Crawfordsville.
The expansion, slated for completion in October, includes an office space renovation and the installation of new equipment at the currently 100,000 square-foot facility.
Crawford plans to hire 11 new employees – machine operators and management associates – at the location by 2015, according to a March 6 news release.
Crawford currently has more than 95 employees in Indiana.
The expansion will broaden Crawford's capabilities to reach new and different markets, said James Guinn, treasurer and vice president of finance at Crawford, in the release.
Crawford makes specialty packaging like binders, tote boxes, envelopes and folders from polyethylene and polypropylene. In addition to extrusion and converting, the company has design, decorating, print and die cutting capabilities.
Crawford also has a plant in Thomasville, Ga. The company is privately held by Horizon Five Star Cos. Inc. of Naperville, Ill.
Crawford has been offered up to $90,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. for its job creation plans. It's also been approved for tax abatement from the city of Crawfordsville.
