Belgian firm Materialise NV has developed a flexible and durable polyurethane for 3D printing.
The firm claims TPU 92A-1 is the only flexible 3D printing material that provides durable elasticity, high tear and dynamic loading resistance, snappy response and a temperature range of -4° F to 112° F.
The new material, according to the Leuven, Belgium, firm, is suited to highly flexible, abrasion-resistant parts such as small seals and gaskets, complex tubes, hoses and manifolds, cushioning and shock absorption and rapid prototyping of elastic components.
Materialise says the new PUR is available for customers of the company's manufacturing and prototyping services. The firm also provides 3D printing equipment and software. Established in 1990, its technology is aimed at biomedical and other research, automotive, consumer electronics, disposables and other markets.
