PEACHTREE CITY, GA. — The U.S. operation of Gerresheimer AG is undertaking a significant expansion starting in late 2013.
The planning commission of Peachtree City, Ga., has approved the application of Gerresheimer Peachtree City (USA) LP for an addition of 180,000 square feet adjacent to its current 61,000-square-foot plant.
The 16-acre site is dedicated to the production of specialty drug-delivery systems and other products for the pharmaceutical and health-care industries.
Gerresheimer in Peachtree City employs about 125 and operates 32 injection molding presses, with clamping forces of 50-300 tons. The expansion is expected to create 120 jobs.
The Düsseldorf, Germany-based parent company reported profit of 66.5 million euros ($85.5 million) on sales of 1.22 billion euros ($1.57 billion) for the fiscal year ended Nov. 30.
Historically a maker of glass containers, Gerresheimer added to its plastics processing capabilities with its 2007 acquisition of Wilden AG of Regensburg, Germany. The deal included the Peachtree City operation.
Build-design contractor Tiernan & Patrylo Inc., also of Peachtree City, is slated to handle the new project, as it has in previous expansion there.
The city's planning commission approved the expansion March 11.
