IQMS Inc., which makes enterprise resource planning software (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems (MES), has released a SolidWorks product data management add-in, so IQMS' EnterpriseIQ now can be easily accessed from within SolidWorks computer-aided design products.
Users can link parts, tools and other assembly file details and configurations to create engineering change orders and link inventory, bills of material, project management and preventive maintenance modules in EnterpriseIQ.
There are more than two million SolidWorks licenses on the market, around the world.
IQMS actually works from within the CAD software. IQMS officials said their software is not interfacing with the SolidWorks, instead it is the program.
In other news, IQMS of Paso Robles, Calif., has announced two new customers.
C.W. Thomas, a vacuum/pressure former in Phildelphia, replaced its outdated, legacy ERP system, as the company was operating on a DOS-based software combine with Excel spreadsheets. The homemade spreadsheets did not link to each other. And shop floor control and inventory management was done manually.
C.W. Thomas was the Greater Philadelphia Manufacturer of the Year in 2011.
IQMS, of Paso Robles, Calif., also announced that packaging maker Airlite Plastics Co. of Omaha, Neb., picked IQMS to replace its legacy software that was a combination of commercial and custom-built application s. Airlite sought an ERP system that specialized in manufacturing and could support all of its separate business divisions and product lines.
