AVON LAKE, OHIO -- Materials firm PolyOne Corp. has opened a color concentrates plant in Saudi Arabia through a joint venture with a Saudi company.
The $14 million plant was opened April 9 in Jeddah. It will be operated by Juffali PolyOne Masterbatch Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Avon Lake, Ohio-based PolyOne and E.A. Juffali & Bros. Ltd., a Jeddah-based industrial conglomerate.
Material made at the plant will be sold within the Middle East. The two firms have worked together on sales in the region for almost 30 years. PolyOne owns 51 percent of the JV, which first was announced in late 2011.
In an April 9 news release, PolyOne Chairman, President and CEO Stephen Newlin said that the opening of the plant “solidifies our ability to bring enhanced value and improved collaboration to our current and future customers.”
Juffali also is involved in joint ventures with U.S. plastics and chemicals firms Dow Chemical Co. of Midland, Mich., and DuPont Co. of Wilmington, Del. Juffali's work with Dow includes a polyurethanes feedstocks plant in Jeddah.
