NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Toray Plastics (America) Inc. is installing new coating equipment to make films with advanced specialty layers.
The company expects the equipment to be up and running in the second quarter, and a ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for May 2.
Toray will use the equipment to make PET and polypropylene films with multi-layer and barrier structures that require specific surface properties.
Marketing manager Paul Knollmeyer said in a news release that the investment will allow Toray to expand its R&D into more advanced film technologies.
