HATFIELD, PA. — K'Nex, the construction toy company, will set up a United Kingdom subsidiary on Jan. 1, two decades after it first started sending its products across the Pond.
The company, a brand of Hatfield-based injection molder Rodon Group LLC, said it would continue to work with its current U.K. distributor, Tomy UK, until the end of 2013.
Michael Araten, president and chief executive officer of K'Nex Brands, said that domestic momentum for the group's products had grown "in leaps and bounds" over the last 21 years.
As more and more licensing deals were signed, Araten said he had become confident that similar growth in other countries could be achieved.
"We are excited to open our doors, work hand-in-hand with consumers and retailers in the U.K. and continue the growth of K'nex Brands," he added.
K'Nex manufactures plastic construction toys including K'Nex Building sets, and has made more than 31 billion parts for its products.
The company was founded in 1992 and claims to be the world's most innovative construction toy company.
