TROY, MICH. — Continental Structural Plastics is expanding its footprint in Europe with the acquisition of a facility and equipment for both thermoplastic and thermoset molding that will give it its first manufacturing there.
CSP, based in Troy, Mich., announced May 1 that it has an agreement to lease a 120,000-square-foot manufacturing site in Pouance, France, and a separate purchase of the assets of a company formerly occupying the plant.
CSP already has a sales office in Germany.
"The agreement expands our global network, increases CSP's manufacturing capacity and provides us with the opportunity to expand our customer base in Europe in the near future," said Frank Macher, chairman and CEO of CSP, in a news release.
The acquisition covers six compression molding presses and 12 thermoplastic injection molding presses. The company did not disclose a purchase price or the identity of the company it purchased the equipment from.
The automotive and transportation equipment molder also has operations in the United States, Mexico and Japan.
CSP has already begun hiring at the new plant and will launch production later this year.
