Automotive molder Plastic Omnium SA has deployed Free Field Technologies' software, Actran/Acoustics and Vibro-Acoustics, so simulate the acoustic attenuation of plastic body panels and other car components.
Actran can simulate the acoustic behavior of lightweight automotive components early in the design process.
Based in Levallois, France, the Automotive Division of Plastic Omnium combines the expertise of the Omnium Auto Exterior, a leader in body components and modules, and fuel systems supplier Inergy Automotive Systems.
“We need to simulate the acoustic attenuation of panels and gain a better understanding of their physical behavior without having to create a large number of prototypes,” said Philippe Gilote, research and development project manager at Plastic Omnium.
Free Field Technologies, based in Mont-Saint-Guilbert, Belgium, is an MSC Software company.
