SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MICH. — An investigation is continuing into the March 21 death of a worker at an automotive injection molding supplier, according to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
A 42-year-old employee of MöllerTech LLC was killed when a mold fell on him while he was working on an overhead crane, the Shelby Township Police Department said in a news release.
“At this time it appears to be an unfortunate industrial accident,” the police release said.
MöllerTech officials said the company has nothing more to disclose about the incident at this time. The company, in the Detroit suburb of Shelby Township, is part of MöllerGroup GmbH & Co. KG of Bielefeld, Germany.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, part of licensing and regulatory affairs, has been conducting an investigation into the death, but a spokeswoman said the group cannot discuss details of the accident until its investigation is complete. The full probe may take several weeks or months to complete.
