Swiss pipe repair company RS Technik has developed with Dow Chemical Co. a fiberglass-reinforced replacement pipe to avoid digging up old potable water pipe and replacing it.
“In particular, municipalities in major U.S. cities are experiencing water losses of up to 40 percent during distribution, resulting from leaks and breaks in water pipelines,” notes Joe Cutillo, president and CEO of Inland Pipe Rehabilitation, a specialist of trenchless underground technologies in the United States and Canada. RS Technik and Dow are working with Inland to solve trenchless pipe repair solutions.
RS Technik President and CEO Klaus Mueller says the partners provide an attractive solution for repairing water mains while minimizing economic, social and environmental impacts.
Dow has developed resins that can handle the job. RS Technik is based in Zurich, Switzerland, with an office in Cary, N.C.
