SCHWAIG, GERMANY — Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH has promoted two executives into senior positions as Shaun Dean moves from the injection moulding machine company to its Japanese parent Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd.
Dean had been chief operating officer of the company based in Schwaig, Germany.
Christian Renners, 47, business unit manager of sales and after sales at Sumitomo Demag, takes over full responsibility of the chief sales officer, as managing director for sales, after sales, marketing and all subsidiaries. Renners has more than 25 years of experience in plastics, the last 10 years at Sumitomo Demag.
Andreas Schramm, currently manager of research and development at the company, has been appointed chief technical officer with full responsibility for R&D, quality and production, starting June 1. Schramm, 46, joined the machinery maker as development engineer in 2001.
"In their new positions Renners and Schramm will with Tetsuya Okamura, Sumitomo, CEO of Sumitomo Demag and senior vice president of Sumitomo Heavy Industries.
Dean will resign as chief operating officer of Sumitomo Demag and return to the Japanese parent company as of June. 1. His new role will involve wider responsibilities within the SHI Group.
