LEEDS, ENGLAND — Police are hunting arsonists who badly damaged Leeds-based Formation Plastics. The company is, however, carrying on fulfilling orders.
"We're not quite operating as usual but we're close," said a company spokesman. "Fortunately our offices weren't damaged and the machinery is OK but we lost a lot of stock and there's extensive smoke damage, too.
"Another 15 minutes and the whole building would have been gone," he added. He thanked the fire brigade for its swift thinking for saving the firm's plant on Rodley Lane.
The blaze was started on Sunday night — probably by children, according to local police. It spread from some recycling bins to the main factory complex before being extinguished. Fire crews attended from Idle, Rawdon, Stanningley and Leeds.
Formation Plastics is a plastics fabricator specializing in acrylic point-of-purchase displays.
