WASHINGTON — Lawmakers better buckle up.
Members of eight plastics industry trade associations are preparing to descend upon Washington, DC in July for the 2013 Plastics Industry Fly-In.
On July 23 and 24, participants will meet with members of Congress and the Obama Administration to discuss current industry issues — from green building issues to the medical device tax — and how they are impacting the business side of plastics.
Participating trade groups include:
- American Chemistry Council
- American Mold Builders Association
- International Association of Plastics Distribution
- Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association
- Plastic Pipe Institute
- Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.
- Vinyl Institute
- Western Plastics Association
Members can register for the Fly-In at a discount, but those in the plastics industry who have not joined a trade group can still participate, according to SPI, the group coordinating the event. Those interested in attending can contact SPI's Suzanne Morgan at [email protected] or at 202-974-5218.
In preparation for the outreach and lobbying blitz, the trade groups have also come together to build an app loaded with all things plastics-related. PlasticsChampion is available for free at the iTunes store or downloadable on a mobile browser at www.plasticschampion.org.
