Polyscope Polymers BV has developed terpolymer styrenics that can take high heat and are miscible with other styrenics such as ABS.
Xiran IZ polymers combine styrene, maleic anhydride and N-phenymaleimide. They allow high heat resistance for engineering polymers with low volatile residuals. New grades have glass transition temperature of 347° F or higher.
The maleic anhydride content provides excellent adhesion properties according to the Geleen, Netherlands company. The Xiran IZ materials offer a balance of thermal improvement, mechanical properties and cost performance that can boost performance of other polymers in blends.
“As experts in styrene maleic anhydride copolymers and their chemistry, Polyscope is always ready to apply its depth of knowledge in order to find new materials and bring these to market,” notes Peter Tackx, the firm's business director of engineering plastics.
