Indian equipment maker Smart Machineries and Moulds Pvt. Ltd. has opened a new plant near Mumbai for manufacturing extrusion blow molding machinery.
The company said in a June 17 news release that the facility, in Thane, India, will have the capacity to make 24-36 machines a year, including both single- and double-station models. Smart said it expects to double sales this year with the new facility.
“This plant will be dedicated to providing innovative solutions to meet the needs of blow molding processors in India,” said Managing Director Shreeram Rane.
Smart began as a consulting company in 2004 working on turnkey industry projects in Africa, and in 2007 began distributing chilling plants, dehumidifiers and mold-temperature controllers from European and American suppliers.
According to its website, it currently distributes for U.S. firm Gammaflux LP, Italian manufacturer Green Box srl and others.
In 2010, it acquired its own manufacturing by purchasing Mumbai-based extrusion blow molding machinery company Mazda Mech Industries.
