Alliance Polymers and Services LLC has expanded applications for its Maxelast thermoplastic elastomers and production capacity for the materials as well.
Potential applications now include end caps for piping, industrial and commercial window profiles, architectural gaskets, electrical components, hoses, outdoor products and wire coatings.
The Romulus, Mich., firm claims Maxelast closely resembles vulcanized rubber with good energy-absorbing properties. The TPEs also are weather resistant, have a high coefficient of friction and can be coextruded for soft/hard combinations.
Maxelast is available in hardnesses ranging from 30 Shore A to 36 Shore D. Alliance supplies the TPEs as natural pellets in quantities as small as 55-pound bags.
