Gov. John Kasich visited Milacron LLC's Batavia, Ohio, manufacturing plant on July 18.
The visit was designed to highlight the state of Ohio's manufacturing sector — jobs and growth — as well as Kasich's take on what the recently adopted state budget will mean in the next few years.
Milacron also offered a nice backdrop for the visit, because the company is a real-life come-back story. As we wrote in our February Viewpoint ("Milacron's saga comes full circle"):
"The saga of Milacron LLC is full of ups and downs, from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009, through two private equity owners and finally, buying hot-runner major Mold-Masters Ltd. for $968 million in a blockbuster deal announced Feb. 12. ... What a roller coaster ride in just four years!"
Milacron spokesman Mike Prachar had this to say about Kasich's visit: "Milacron has worked diligently to provide its customers with the very best product and to be a great partner, so it's really an honor to be recognized for our ongoing efforts."
