Plastic pipe major Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. has diversified downstream by acquiring a controlling interest in BaySaver Technologies Inc., a producer of storm water treatment systems based in Mount Airy, Md.
The purchased company has been renamed BaySaver LLC. ADS has been supplying plastic pipe to BaySaver Technologies and with the acquisition will market the Bay Separator and BayFilter units, which separate and filter pollution from storm water runoff. Production of the storm water systems will be expanded across the United States.
ADS has 56 domestic and international manufacturing plants and 28 distribution centers.
ADS makes corrugated high density polyethylene pipe, high pressure HDPE pipe and fittings, and storm water system components such as StormTech chambers, fittings and geotextiles. The Hilliard, Ohio, company claims to be the world's largest producer of corrugated pipe. Adding the BaySaver lines helps complete ADS's offerings in storm water treatment, said ADS Chairman and CEO Joe Chlapaty in a news release.
“During the past several years both companies have proven how successful these storm water quality treatment systems can be,” stated Chlapaty.
