Systems Labelling Ltd. has developed a new recyclable label which is designed to replace paper labels on plastic bottles.
According to the Deeside, England-based company, 90 percent of the new labels peel away during the recycling process and can then be recycled themselves into polyolefin compounds. They are therefore more environmentally friendly than adhesive paper labels, which break down into a pulp and cause color contamination, resulting in more landfill, adds the firm.
As well as the environmental benefits, the Ecoplas labels cost no more than their paper alternatives and can be supplied with a gloss or matt varnish, says the company.
