Pan-European trade association PlasticsEurope today announced it has appointed Karl Foerster as executive director. Current executive director Wilfried Haensel is retiring.
Foerster, who will take on the new role on Oct. 1, was the CEO of Neochimiki Group, based in Athens, Greece.
"I am very honored to take on the position of executive director, and to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and experienced team," he said in a statement. "PlasticsEurope has a crucial role to play in communicating the benefits of plastics to a wide range of stakeholder audiences, and at the same time helping drive sustainable industry responses to challenging societal issues."
Foerster has an economics degree from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, and MBA from the US University of Rhode Island. Before joining Neochimiki, Foerster was VP at PolymerLatex.
PlasticsEurope, which represents European plastics resin suppliers, is based in Brussels.
