To make room for increased production for catheter systems, VistaMed Ltd. announced expansion of its facility in Ireland.
The 35,000-square-foot expansion includes 12,000-square-feet of clean room manufacturing aimed at meeting the need of braided catheter assemblies. The expansion also includes a new area dedicated to thermoplastic extrusion. The facility is located in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, Ireland.
The expansion will also allow for the increase capacity for VistaMed's high pressure braided tubing lines. The full expansion should be completed by November, the company said.
“Over the last two years, VistaMed has made a significant investment in state-of-the-art extrusion equipment,” Patrick Mulholland, VistaMed's managing director, said in a statement. “These new extrusion lines have allowed us tighter dimensional control together with superior control over tubing mechanical properties. The new equipment also supports our growing balloon catheter business and gives VistaMed increased capability to produce more complex balloons.”
VistaMed is a Helix Medical LLC joint venture company, with two medical manufacturing facilities in Ireland. Helix Medical has 10 manufacturing operations in the United States, Costa Rica, Germany, China and Ireland.
