Elastocon TPE Technologies Inc. has developed a new series of high-performance flame retardant thermoplastic elastomers formulated for electrical goods, batteries, and automotive and appliance end-uses.
The Rochester, Ill., company says its new family of halogenated TPEs overcomes the physical property drawbacks of non-halogenated flame retarded TPEs. Elastocan claims its new products are within government environmental guidelines, exhibit high mechanical properties, excellent UV resistance and processability. They combat ignition, flame spread and smoke emission and can meet UL 94V0 rating. They also do not require drying with a desiccant dryer before use.
Elastocon offer the TPEs in hardnesses ranging from Shore 95A to 50D, making them suited to applications requiring flexibility combined with good chemical resistance.
