LONG BEACH, CALIF. — Marc Morello, the operations manager of rotational molding at Jacobson Plastics Inc. in Long Beach, died Aug. 8, after suffering a heart attack. He was 50.
Morello started as a restaurant manager, then moved into a career in plastics, starting with injection molding. Ten years ago he switched to rotomolding.
“His bright life, so suddenly cut short, was a shock and loss to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed,” Jacobson Plastics officials said in a memorial announcement. “Anyone who was lucky enough to have met or known Marc was moved by his character. He was an enthusiastic and charismatic leader and mentor who truly shared goodwill with everyone he met, and set an example that all wished to follow.”
Morello loved a challenge, and he enjoyed troubleshooting and solving problems with rotomolding. He also excelled at product design and development, his coworkers said.
Morello liked to spend time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle and deep-sea fishing. He was co-captain of a sport fishing boat, sharing his love of the sea and fishing with others almost every weekend.
He was well-liked in the industry. A company spokesman said people from 15 customers and six vendors came to his funeral.
