MUMBAI — Poly Products Nigeria plc is planning to expand its film plant in Lagos, Nigeria.
The company, which was established in 1995 by Indian settlers, manufacturing polyethylene and polypropylene film, water storage tanks, and bottles for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
“We are doubling the plant capacity to 30,000 metric tons in the next two years,” said managing director Nari S. Gwalani, at the recent Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Conference in Mumbai.
The company has four facilities, in Lagos, Kaduna, Otta and Jos. Gwalani said the company will invest $5 million to $6 million in the expansion, using new machinery from Europe.
“The rigid and flexible packaging market is growing in Nigeria on the back of growing demand for packaged food,” Gwalani said. “Nigeria has population of 160 million people, and demand for packaged food experienced steep growth in last half decade.”
