Material supplier H.L. Blachford Ltd. has expanded into molding of heavy-truck acoustic parts with its purchase of PresGlas of Cambridge, Ontario.
Blachford created a new subsidiary — Blachford AM Ltd. — to acquire PresGlas, which formerly was a division of Camali Industries NA Inc.
The new subsidiary will focus on supplying molded headliners, trim, and floor mats with acoustic and thermal materials for the truck and heavy equipment market, Blachford said in a Sept. 18 news release.
The companies did not disclose the purchase price.
Mississauga, Ontario-based Blachford began as a supplier of chemicals for the rubber, paint and ink industries in the early 1900s and has expanded to supply lubricants and additives for the plastics industry, wire drawing and powdered metals along with parts for acoustic components.
The new subsidiary will add capabilities in making molded parts with acoustic performance and take advantage of Blachford's existing acoustics laboratory in West Chicago, Ill.
