Topas Advanced Polymers has debuted a film extrusion grade of cyclic olefin copolymer suited to multilayer food packaging containing polyolefins and barrier resins.
Topas 7010F-600 processes easily on blown film lines with or without grooved feed extruders at process temperatures of 446° F or above, the Frankfurt, Germany, company claims. It features a glass transition temperature of 230° F, transparency and high moisture barrier. It complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration food contact regulations.
“This material fills a gap in our extrusion portfolio by offering the optimized combination of higher heat stability and strong processing,” notes Wilfried Hatke, European marketing and sales manager.
Topas says the new COC grade is aimed at medical, food and pharmaceutical packaging, optics and electronics. Its North American office is in Florence, Ky.
