AKRON, OHIO — A late reprieve for a major European polyethylene plant is featured in this week's Material Insights video.
Ineos Group reached an agreement with the Unite labor union to keep open a major petrochemicals site in Grangemouth, Scotland. The site briefly had closed as the two sides worked on a deal. The new agreement includes a three-year no-strike clause.
Ravago Group's acquisition of resin distributor A-Top Polymers Inc. also is featured in this week's video. A-Top founder Peter Krippendorf will work with Ravago as a consultant. Other senior management and commercial sales team members also will be retained.
The video wraps up with news of new resin and feedstock capacity from a trio of firms. Elevance Renewable Sciences Inc. will open a new biofeedstocks plant in Natchez, Miss., in 2016. In Bainbridge, Ga., Meredian will have 60 million pounds of bioresin capacity online by mid-2014. Gharda Chemicals Ltd. also will open a plant making polyetheretherketone and other specialty resins in Panoli, India, by mid-2015.
