Wittmann Battenfeld Inc. is known for its injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment and robots, but the company has made auxiliaries for extrusion — and it rolled out its extrusion-specific push at the SPE Thermoforming Conference, held Sept. 9-12 in Atlanta.
The extrusion unit is part of the auxiliary business, said Joe Norco, national extrusion sales manager for material handling and auxiliaries. “It's an extra-focused division under auxiliaries,” he said.
Wittmann Battenfeld in January hired Norco, who had worked at Conair Group for 20 years.
Norco said the company is doing a lot of product development, both revamping its core products to gear them toward extrusion, and developing new equipment products for upstream and downstream extrusion.
With the extrusion business, Wittmann Battenfeld officials decided to exhibit at the SPE Thermoforming Conference for the first time.
The company was showing a blender with RTLS technology (real time live scale) and a Tempro plus D temperature controller.
Norco said the firm is working on new, extrusion-specific products.
