Stratasys Ltd. has a new ABS resin system for its 3D printers that it claims is well suited to thin-walled models and parts with high dimensional stability.
The Minneapolis, Minn., company says Digital ABS2 provides more rigidity, durability and functionality in thin-wall parts made on its PolyJet 3D printers. It leads to improved form, fit and assembly for prototyping and production. Stratasys says the new ABS gives sharper edges and more ability to make small parts such as pins that withstand the high stresses of an injection molding step.
The firm's PolyJet materials are composites created by simultaneously jetting two different materials. By customizing the concentrations of the two materials, a processor gets unique mechanical properties and a part closer to the end-product, according to Stratasys.
