Japanese injection press maker Nissei Plastic Industrial Co. Ltd. has opened a sales subsidiary in India, upgrading its former representative office in response to what it said is growing local business and Japanese interest in the market.
"Japanese companies, mainly automotive industries, have been expanding their businesses in the Indian market in recent years, and this trend is expected to grow," Nissei said, in a statement.
The office in Gurgaon, outside New Delhi, opened Nov. 1 with two Japanese staff and two local staff. It is within two hours of Neemrana, a Japanese industrial zone near Delhi, the Nagoya, Japan-based company said.
Nissei has been expanding rapidly outside Japan recently, announcing last year it planned to build a second factory in China and its first in Thailand. In August, it opened a 26-person branch office in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan.
