ANDERSON, S.C. — Mergon Corp., an injection and blow molder, is investing $4.4 million to expand its plant in Anderson, S.C., and add 22 jobs, Gov. Nikki Haley announced.
Mergon Corp. is part of Mergon Group, based in Castlepollard, Ireland. CEO Patrick Beirne could not be reached for comment. But in a prepared statement, Beirne credited the business opportunities in the region and Mergon employees.
Earlier this year, Mergon bought the three-machine blow molding operation of rotational molder Dutchland Plastics Corp., and moved them from Greenville, S.C., to its plant in Anderson. Mergon supplies the automotive, industrial and health-care markets.
“In South Carolina, we celebrate when existing businesses grow and continue to find success here,” Gov. Haley said. “We appreciate Mergon's commitment to our state and the creation of jobs in and around Anderson County.”
