Fred Keller, the founder, CEO and chair of injection molder Cascade Engineering Inc., has been named the winner of the 2013 Spirit of Michigan Award.
The award from the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition, which is supported by a wide range of economic development and technology development groups throughout Michigan, is given each year to a business leader in the state.
Accelerate Michigan officials noted Keller's work in advancing the "triple bottom line" report at Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Cascade. The report notes social and environmental actions within the company in addition to tracking its economic progress.
"Fred stands out in the crowd," said Lauren Bigelow, executive director of Accelerate Michigan. "The dedication he shows for building even more economic, social and ecological benefit in Michigan and beyond our borders in truly inspiring."
