Materials maker Penn Color has increased production and added lab-scale equipment at its concentrates plant in Milton, Wis.
Doylestown, Pa.-based Penn Color added a new high-output, twin-screw extrusion line in Milton late last year. The three-year-old site also received an additional pre-blending system, a production-scale resin dryers a lab-scale injection molding machine and an additional post-blending system, officials said in a news release.
They added that continuous investment into plant equipment and personnel in Milton "will be needed in order to meet aggressive growth targets forecasted for Penn Color in the Midwest." The 52,000-square-foot plant now has seven extrusion lines.
During 2013, Penn Color unveiled a new liquid color liquid color product line that was developed as an enhanced colorant option for PET processors. The product now is available in Europe but should be available in other regions in late 2014 or early 2015. Other new additive products from the firm include UV stabilizers, slip agents, and anti-blocks.
Penn Color employs more than 650 at five plants in the U.S., as well as single plants in the Netherlands and India. The firm also has a sales office in China.
Penn Color's product line includes color and additive concentrates, as well as ink and coating dispersions. The firm was founded in 1964 as PFD Plastics in Flemington, N.J.
