MHI Injection Molding Machinery, which sells Mitsubishi injection molding machines, announced the new MMX press, featuring Mitsubishi's smart hybrid hydraulic system, which greatly reduces power consumption.
The hybrid design features a three-phase induction motor and a variable-capacity piston pump, so the system consumes less energy than other hybrids, and up to 40 percent less power than conventional hydraulic systems, according to MHI.
A servomotor stabilizes hydraulic oil flow and pressure, to save energy. An enclosed pumping system reduces noise.
The two-platen MMX features four-point, tiebar clamping, which easily tolerates unbalanced loads. The mechanism that supports the gearing housing uses a linear rail. Hydraulic cylinders are positioned at both sides of the screw, reducing the size of the injection unit.
Also, MHI said, the machine offers fast mold open/close, fast ejector retraction, fast mold-close pressurization, and a high-capacity hydraulic pump for core-pull.
MHI is based in Bensenville, Ill.
