Submissions are now open for the 2014 Altair Enlighten Award, presented in collaboration with the Center for Automotive Research, product design and software company Altair Engineering Inc. has announced.
The award, now in its second year, was created by Troy, Mich.-based Altair to honor achievements in lightweighting across the auto industry. Last year's winner, BASF Corp., was recognized for its work developing a composite seat pan 45 percent lighter than the previous part.
Nominees may be automakers or suppliers in all sectors of the automotive industry. Designs submitted must be fitted to a vehicle produced between August 2011 and August 2014. More information and nomination forms are available at the Altair Enlighten website.
The award will be presented in August at the 2014 CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich.
