COLUMBUS, OHIO — Acrylic sheet producer Plaskolite Inc. reports that its new cast-acrylic sheet plant in Turkey should be completed the second half of this year, under its joint venture with Turkish thermoformer Işik Plastik.
Cell cast acrylic is a new product line for Plaskolite, based in Columbus. Company officials said the process makes sheet with a high level of chemical resistance, gauge and color ranges.
The sheet will be produced in Malatya, Turkey, at the new Plaskolite and Işik Plastik plant.
Plaskolite has been active in recent years, announcing deals.
In 2012, the company bought the glycol-modified PET sheet business from Bayer MaterialScience LLC. Later that year, Plaskolite said it was buying the sheet-related assets of Pexco LLC.
Founded in 1950, Plaskolite Inc. claims to be the largest privately owned U.S. manufacturer of continuously processed acrylic sheet products.
Işik Plastik, formed in 1997, produces thermoformed food and consumer goods packaging, industrial flat sheets, compound and masterbatch. That includes forming polypropylene and polystyrene products. The company also extrudes optical sheet.
