ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Medical-grade fiber developer RxFiber LLC of Windsor, Calif., won a 2014 Golden Mousetrap Award for its new high-tenacity PET biograde RxFibron HT fiber.
Design News magazine conducted the competition recognizing new products in materials, automation, electronics and design tools and presented the awards at a Feb. 11 ceremony in Anaheim. The competition plays on the oft-repeated theme of developing a better mousetrap.
With its medical-grade fiber, RxFiber captured the materials segment of the materials and assembly category.
Two others were finalists in the segment: Sabic Innovative Plastics of Pittsfield, Mass., for polymer materials in the Mi2A smartphone from mobile internet company Xiaoni of Beijing and APM Hexseal Corp. of Englewood, N.J., for a reuseable toggle-switch sealing boot.
