MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Australia's competition watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), will not oppose Amcor Ltd.'s proposed A$50 million acquisition of Detmold Flexibles Pty. Ltd., a unit of Adelaide-based Detmold Group.
Detmold competes with Melbourne-based Amcor in supplying value-added flexible packaging, particularly to fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturers.
“ACCC concluded the acquisition of Detmold's Australian flexible packaging operations would be unlikely to substantially lessen competition,” ACCC chairman Rod Sims said.
ACCC's report said FMCG manufacturers can successfully manage their supply chain by importing value-added flexible packaging.
