Additives maker Addivant is opening a product development center in Shandong province, China, its first in the country, to better tailor its dust-reducing additives to the local market.
"The expansion into China makes tremendous sense given the region's position in new polymer production and the fast growth of its downstream processing industries," said Peter Smith, president and CEO of Middlebury, Conn.-based Addivant, in a Feb. 25 statement.
The company, which makes specialty additives including antioxidants, light stabilizers, polymer modifiers and intermediates, currently has similar Customer Formulation Centers in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
"The new operations in China will join our network of existing formulation centers and will be supported by our worldwide R&D facilities to ensure the very latest technologies are deployed," he said.
Addivant said the Shandong center will open August 1.
