Otech Corp. has developed a thermoplastic polyolefin with exceptional shock absorption properties and good compression set.
The Rolling Prairie, Ind., company says OTE 2089 can compete with conventional thermoplastic vulcanizates but it is easier to process. Otech claims the new compound is well suited to sporting goods applications because it has the look and feel of vulcanized rubber but it is lighter weight. An initial application is for recoil pads in competition rifles.
