Playground equipment maker Playworld Systems Inc. in Lewisburg, Pa., bought a nearby rotational factory from Kent, Ohio-based Akro-Plastics, called New Berlin Plastics.
Akro-Plastics president Jerry Ramsey said his company started New Berlin Plastics about 20 years ago to mold sliding boards and other parts for Playworld. The playground company accounts for nearly all of the rotomolding operation's sales, he said.
Playworld Systems will retain the factory and employees of the rotomolder in the central Pennsylvania city of New Berlin, Ramsey said. He declined to give the purchase price.
Playworld wanted to take the rotomolding in-house, he said.
Ramsey continues to own and run Akro-Plastics. He said the Kent rotomolder has a diversified base of customers.
