StackTeck has announced the first commercial application of its proprietary TRIM (Thin Recess Injection Molding) technology — made for SriThai Superware Public Co. Ltd. of Bangkok, Thailand.
StackTeck, of Brampton, Ontario, announced the news at the IMLCON 2014 in-mold decorating conference held in Phoenix in February. Jordan Robertson, general manager of business development and and marketing, said SriThai is using the technology to reduce the weight of already thin-walled package: a 64-ounce round pail.
"By pushing the TRIM part design to the limit, covering approximately 90 percent of the part with ultra-thin panels, a weight savings of 41 percent was achieved," he said.
The application used TRIM to adapt an existing production mold, by replacing core components only.
StackTeck first announced TRIM at the 2009 NPE show.
