Croda Polymer Additives has introduced a slip agent with long-term stability to protect against changes in taste and color in consumer film and sheet.
Incroslip SL provides a combination of high slip performance and stability, according to the Cowick Hall, England, company. Traditional slip additives improve film and sheet processing and handling but heat and UV exposure can break down the additives, compromising feel, odor and taste, Croda explains.
Croda maintains its Incroslip SL provides slip performance, stability, and anti-scratch and low-blooming properties that are especially useful in automotive applications.
A Croda spokeswoman says Incroslip SL is a saturated fatty acid amide that provides slip levels not achieved by other saturated slip additives commercially used. Its slip properties are similar to widely used erucamide, an unsaturated fatty amide, while its stability mimics saturated fatty acid behenamide. However, neither of these fatty amides are present in Incroslip SL.
