Tredegar Film Products is expanding apertured film production in Pune, India, to meet rising demand in the second most populous country in the world as well as elsewhere in Asia.
Production of the films is geared to hygiene and personal-care applications. Tredegar Film Products said the project is a step in its plan to expand aggressively in emerging markets. Tredegar announced in a March 12 news release that the extra production capacity will be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2014. Tredegar Film Products established the Pune operation in October 2010.
“Today, we are the leading supplier for apertured films in the region and by enhancing our local supply and service capabilities for our Asian customer base, we are further positioning Tredegar to benefit from the positive consumer purchasing trends in this geography,” noted Tredegar Film Products President Mary Jane Hellyar.
“Population growth and evolving Indian demographics support the expanded use of hygiene and baby care products in the region and these dynamics are continuing to fuel sales and volume growth for our film products,” added Jessica Torng, managing director for the Asian Pacific region for Tredegar Film Products.
Tredegar Film Products of Richmond, Va., makes a range of plastic films, elastic products and laminate materials and recorded North American sales of $611.9 million in 2012, making it the twelfth largest firm in that market in that period.
