NEW DELHI — Headlight maker Varroc Group is looking to get further into lighting for scooters and motorcycles following its acquisition of an 80 percent stake in Italy's Triom SpA.
Varroc, based in Aurangabad, India, was previously focused on the auto market, but is widening its product portfolio with Triom. Varroc lighting now has two separate divisions — Varroc for the auto business and Triom for two-wheeled vehicles, said Roberto Ronco, sales manager for Triom Vietnam Co. Ltd. during an interview at the New Delhi Auto Expo.
“With the Triom brand, Varroc would give required thrust to the two-wheeler business in India also,” Ronco said.
Triom's European clientele includes Piaggio, Yamaha, Honda, KTM, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Ducati with production in Italy and Romania.
It also recently set up a plant in Vietnam to cater to the two-wheel market in the ASEAN region.
Triom is also eyeing more Indian two wheelers.
“We have also started supplying lights to the leading Indian two wheeler brand Hero for its new line-up of models to be launched shortly,” Ronco said.
Hero MotoCorp, Ltd. which has annual sales of more than 6 million two wheelers annually and says it is the largest maker of two-wheeled vehicles globally.
